Richard Bankhead, D.D.S.

Richard Bankhead, DDS

The Ohio State University
Bachelor of Science, Zoology/Ethology, 1976
Doctor of Dental Surgery, 1979

He moved to Boston in 1979, along with Dr. Paul Groipen. They were friends in dental school and decided to begin practicing dentistry together, thus beginning a life-long friendship.

Dr. Bankhead is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Massachusetts Dental Society. He taught at the Forsyth school of Dental Hygiene for seven years. Now he volunteers at “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” a shelter for homeless and at-risk children and adolescents.

Rick has a wide interest in music from Fiona Apple, John Legend, and Abby Lincoln to Coldplay and Pink Floyd. Whenever Rick has a chance, he likes to see local theater productions.

When he is not doing something cultural or volunteering, Rick likes to go cycling, running or hiking (he always feels that he should do more of those aerobic things, that is for sure!).

Rick also has a strong interest in spending time oil painting. He has done acrylic painting, but still prefers oil. He has taken classes at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and at Massachusetts College of Art.

Dr. Rick has an undergraduate degree in Zoology and Animal Behavior(Ethology). This is a passion for enviromental study that he carries with him to this day.
